Mad Science Wednesday Workshops!

mad science workshops graphic June: Movie Effects Virtual Workshop - This virtual experience is presented in real-time. The instructor will dispel common movie myths by interactively demonstrating how movie makers create fake snow, engineer sound effects, and use 3D technology to trick our brains and to make a story feel more real. We will then work together to create a flip animation book to make a mini movie.
July: Mad Machines Workshop - Discover how simple machines make our lives easier. Learn about the six different types of simple machines: the screw, lever, inclined plane, wedge, pulley, and wheel and axle. You'll launch with levers, secure with screws, and work with wedges through hands-on activities! Then, apply your newfound mechanical knowledge by building your very own Drag Racer!

You can find the registration link on the JPL Children’s Facebook page or sign into your summer reading account at srp.jplibrary.net and select the “Mad Science” activity badge. Links will be available one week before each workshop. Workshops are capped at 25 kids, so please only register once in June and once in July.
