Children's Summer Reading Challenge
(Newborns - Grade 5)

Rules:
When does it start?
Summer Reading officially starts on June 3rd.  You should not count any book that was read before this date.

When does it end?
Summer Reading ends on August 5th.  All books must be logged online by midnight on August 5th or paper logs must be turned in by the time the library closes.

How does it work?
STEP 1: Click on the "Register/Online Log" button to register.
STEP 2: Read 10 books or 10 hours between June 3rd and August 5th and log the titles online or write them on a paper log. Paper logs can be printed out using the "Paper Log" button above or picked up at any library.
STEP 3: Come to any library branch to collect a prize backpack!* (*available while supplies last)

Can children who are too young to read participate?
Yes!  Kids can count books that are read to them!

What kind of books do I have to read?
You can read anything that is age appropriate!  It can come from your school's summer reading list or just be a book that you are reading for fun!  It does not have to be a library book.

Can I switch between reading a book and reading for an hour?
Yes!  You can read 10 books, 10 hours, or a combination of both!

Can I read more than 10 books?
Yes!  Keep reading all summer long!  When you complete your 10 books, you'll receive a Bonus Prize Sheet that you can use to earn toys or raffle tickets throughout the summer!

How do I collect my prizes?
Once you have completed your log (on paper or online), go to any Jefferson Parish Library to collect your prize!  Prizes are available while supplies last and can be picked up through August 12th.

Prizes:
Completion of 10 books/hours will earn a backpack, a completion certificate, an "Fight Evil, Read Books" bumper sticker, coupons and gift certificates from area businesses, and a bonus prize sheet that will enable you to continue earning prizes for reading!
